The New York Yacht Club anchored in our cove last night. It was really bizarre. There were all these huge boats -- cabin cruisers with four levels, a windjammer with three masts, five boats all nested together having cocktails with a full bar (see below) -- not something you see from our house on a daily basis. We went out to see them as they were sailing in earlier in the day, but we didn't see that many, so we were shocked when we returned home and there they all were (this first one is the view from the point by our house)! I sent three of my pictures to the local paper, so they will run next week. I took individual pictures of each of the amazingly large and elaborate boats -- some with full crews whose golf shirts matched the color of the hull -- and the number and scope of what was anchored out there was just amazing. We went out at night to look at them and their lights made it like a city, even nicer with the full moon. They only come to this area once every 10 years or so, and 10 years ago they weren't nearly this close to our house (though we went out in the boat to look at them). So, it's a once-in-a-lifetime sight.
